01About This Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how HSCode Pro ("the Extension", "we", "us") handles information when you install and use the HSCode Pro Chrome Extension. By using the Extension, you agree to the practices described here.

The Extension is published on the Chrome Web Store by the developer account sarrathi. Questions about this policy can be directed to the contact address in Section 9.

02Information We Collect

HSCode Pro collects only the information necessary to provide its features:

• Anthropic API Key — entered voluntarily by you in Settings. Stored locally on your device only.
• Lemon Squeezy License Key — entered to activate a paid plan. Stored locally; validated with Lemon Squeezy's servers.
• Lookup History — your past HS code queries (product description + result) stored locally so you can review them.
• Saved Catalog — products you choose to save, stored locally.
• Usage Counters — a daily count of lookups and calculator uses for plan-limit enforcement, stored locally.
• Settings — your origin and destination country preferences, stored locally.
• Product Titles from Web Pages — on supported retail sites (Amazon, Alibaba, 1688, AliExpress, Shopify, Etsy, eBay, Walmart, Lazada, and Shopee), the Extension reads the product title on the current page to pre-fill the search field. This data is processed locally and not transmitted to us.

03How We Use Information

• Your API key is used solely to authenticate requests to Anthropic's API on your behalf when you perform a lookup.
• Your license key is used solely to verify your paid plan entitlement with Lemon Squeezy.
• Lookup history and catalog are used to display your past results within the Extension interface.
• Usage counters are used to enforce your plan's daily limits locally.
• Settings are used to pre-fill country fields in the calculator and lookup screens.

We do not use any information for advertising, profiling, or resale.

04Data Storage & Retention

All Extension data is stored in Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device. This data:

• Remains on your device only — it is not synced across devices via Chrome Sync.
• Is retained until you clear it manually from the Extension settings, or uninstall the Extension.
• Uninstalling the Extension removes all locally stored data.

You can clear your lookup history and catalog at any time from within the Extension. To remove your API key and all settings, uninstall the Extension or use the "Reset all data" option in Settings.

05Third-Party Services

The Extension communicates with the following third-party services:

We do not share your data with any other third parties. We do not sell data. We do not use advertising networks or analytics platforms.

06Chrome Permissions

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions and uses them as described:

• storage — to save your API key, settings, history, and catalog locally on your device.
• activeTab / scripting — to read the product title from the page you are currently viewing, so it can be pre-filled in the search field.
• host permissions (amazon.com, alibaba.com, 1688.com, aliexpress.com, shopify.com, myshopify.com, etsy.com, ebay.com, walmart.com, lazada.com, shopee.com) — to inject the floating HS code badge on supported product pages. The Extension only reads the page title; it does not read account information, order history, or any other page content.
• contextMenus — to add a right-click option to classify selected text on any page.

07Children's Privacy

HSCode Pro is a professional trade and customs tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Extension, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

08Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
